Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school and system-facing service delivery. While it primarily exists to support schools, it also has an important system-facing role supporting strategy and policy development.

Professional Capability drives the ongoing development of our workforce. Its purpose is to improve student achievement by enabling teaching and leadership excellence.

The Role

As a Principal Consultant, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of projects, programs, and initiatives that drive educational improvement across the Department.

You will support schools through the development and implementation of strategies that continue to build the confidence and capability of teachers to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and enhance whole-school approaches. Your focus will be on the areas of consent and respectful relationships education as well as the curriculum elements of the Department’s response to family and domestic violence.

You will coordinate projects and provide specialised advice on a wide range of strategic priorities, including conducting research, reviewing policies, and ensuring the alignment of resources to improve student outcomes. You will also prepare high-quality briefing papers, confidential reports, and support documents, contributing to the effective delivery of Statewide Services.

In this role, you will collaborate with senior management, staff, and stakeholders at various levels, building strong networks and facilitating productive relationships. You will consult and negotiate on complex matters, offering subject matter expertise in diverse contexts. Your work will involve designing and monitoring the delivery of innovative projects and initiatives, ensuring integrated service delivery to schools. Your approach will reflect a culturally responsive mindset, enabling you to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to positive educational outcomes.
