The Role

We are actively seeking Primary Teachers with exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating a natural ability to communicate effectively and foster genuine relationships with parents, students, and colleagues. As a primary teacher you would promptly establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment, setting high expectations and cultivating a growth mindset, while nurturing students' social and emotional development through the Zones of Regulation framework. An understanding of the diverse needs of students and how to facilitate these is essential in providing them with a responsive school experience.

Ideally, you will ideally exhibit exemplary teaching skills, with a strong behaviour management, trauma-informed practice and experience with English as a Second Language/Dialect (EAL/D) learners. OAPRCS staff are highly engaged with Community and participate in a range of extra-curricular activities that build and strengthen relationships in and out of school.

As a teacher at OAPRCS, you would work closely with Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) and other Community members to design and deliver high-impact teaching programs, camps and other engaging learning opportunities that focus on whole-child growth. As we are not a Kimberley Schools Project (KSP) school, a member of our team delivers our school-wide suite of programs and resources in Literacy. As a primary teacher, you will ideally have experience delivering Phonemic Awareness programs such as Cracking the Code, Heggerty’s and Letters & Sounds, along with Spelling Mastery for older students. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to co-construct culturally responsive Two-Way Learning units for Science and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) with a focus of On Country Learning and integrating our local Bardi language program. A commitment to whole school connected practice, authentic collaboration and ongoing professional development is highly valued.

We use evidence-based approaches in all teaching and learning, with a focus on data-driven planning that centres students’ capability. You will be proficient in utilising various assessment tools to inform progress, provide constructive feedback, and guide future classroom planning. You will use SEN reporting to provide families with feedback on student achievement using individualised, goal-based reports each semester.
