We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs - Inclusive Education for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

At Riva (PS), our vision is to imagine a better school, and become that better school, every day. We deliver this in alignment with our school values of respect, inclusion and achievement. As a rapidly growing, inclusive school, we are growing our team of over 120 staff, including approximately 55 Education Assistants to continue to meet the needs of our 850 students.

Find out more about our school by visiting Riva Primary School or Schools Online.

The Role

Our One-School approach starts with Education Assistants who are recognised, skilled, supported and developed to work where our students need them.

You will not hear ‘mainstream’ or ‘special needs’ at our school. Education Assistants are for all Riva students, in every classroom, every day, for individuals and small groups, for intensive instruction and support, for communication, collaboration and access, and for every student to not just feel, but experience, a sense of belonging and achievement.

Education Assistants work as part of our united team, providing seamless connection and belonging for each student, from a full Kindergarten classroom to a highly individualised therapy program.

Education Assistants at this level work under limited supervision and may be expected to participate within a team situation, offering advice and expertise relating to their relevant area. Education outcomes are determined by the Teacher, in consultation with the Education Assistant who will be expected to perform tasks which may require discretion in problem solving, decision making, and choosing methods and processes to achieve outcomes. Performance of these tasks may require activities within or outside the school that result in supervision of students without the presence of a teacher.

Applicants are encouraged to learn more about our school, our values and how our Education Assistants support our focus areas of respect, inclusion, achievement and community through visiting our website, or contacting any member of our school leadership team.
