Wilson Primary School (PS) is situated in the peaceful suburb of Wilson, ten kilometres south of Perth City. The school catchment is bordered by: Manning Road, Albany Highway and the beautiful scenic areas of the Canning River, however this is a notional boundary and if places are available then students from outside this boundary are considered for placement. The Role
Wilson PS is seeking a dynamic, experienced Deputy Principal for a 6-month fixed term vacancy. The successful applicant will join our executive team to provide educational leadership within the school, working collaboratively with staff and the community.
We are ideally seeking an applicant with proven strengths in understanding and leading curriculum that utilises evidence-informed teaching and learning approaches. The successful applicant should possess high levels of knowledge in evidence-informed instructional practice and curriculum development. They should have experience in leading teams and working collaboratively with an executive team. A good understanding of the ‘Quality Teaching Strategy’ and ‘Teaching for Impact’ and its delivery to staff for classroom implementation is advantageous. The successful applicant should also have knowledge of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) practices and a coaching approach to leading staff. Effective processes to support positive student behaviour across the school are important. The successful applicant should have the ability to lead staff in analysing and utilising data to inform practice and differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of students.
The Deputy Principal will manage operational systems, and support student wellbeing through a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). A commitment to fostering a positive school culture, strong case management skills, and proficiency in using technology are essential. Exemplary collaboration skills, efficient and effective work habits, attention to detail, data analysis, and a strategic approach to school and student improvement are also important attributes for this role.
The successful applicant will contribute to the School Plan through participative decision-making, policy development, and system establishment. They will manage administrative and operational systems to ensure effective school operations, including compliance with regulations, providing staff feedback, implementing information systems, and overseeing staff leave entitlements.
