The Role

John Tonkin College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Assistant – Special Needs – Lead (EASNL) to lead a dedicated team of Education Assistants Special Needs at the John Tonkin College MET Campus.

The successful applicant should be a highly competent and experienced Education Assistant Special Needs, with a passion for working with students with additional learning needs. 

Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential, as it is expected that the EASNL develop a strong rapport with students, staff, families and therapists and advocate as part of an effective team to ensure success for all students. 

The EASNL will work in consultation with the Teaching and Learning Support Program Coordinator, Education Assistants, teachers, parents/caregivers, the school psychologist, and/or other relevant professionals and contribute to the design and implementation of Individual Education Plan and other documented plans. The EASNL will also be expected to provide solutions and support Education Assistants and teachers, which promote positive engagement and the achievement of individual educational outcomes. 

Experience coordinating processes that ensure adequate relief staff are sourced, workforce inductions are completed, and relevant training is provided is also desirable, along with well-developed communication skills and the ability to lead, mentor and train other staff.
