The Role
The Network Administrator will maintain and manage the school’s network infrastructure, including user access, privileges, and password maintenance. They will ensure compliance with software licensing, IT copyright obligations, and regulatory requirements, reporting and addressing any breaches as necessary. The role involves administering risk management strategies and contingency planning, including system backups, disaster recovery, and data security.
They will provide technical advice on network-related issues and liaise with the Department’s IT Support to resolve hardware, software, and network problems. The Network Administrator will contribute to system improvements by researching and identifying appropriate IT resources and implementing enhancements. This includes adapting and customising existing programs, installing and downloading software, and ensuring systems are performing optimally. They will also respond to failures with timely recovery actions.
Additionally, the Network Administrator will train administration staff in the use of facilities and applications, including one-on-one tuition and self-help resources. They will collaborate with administrative and technical staff to assess network needs and undertake regular housekeeping tasks, such as data backup, distribution, and retention. The role also involves analysing IT issues, implementing solutions, coordinating system updates, and maintaining relationships with external software and hardware providers to ensure the efficient resolution of network administration matters.
