This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Department’s Standards and Integrity Directorate within the Professional Standards and Conduct Division, is responsible for:

  • assessing and managing complaints
  • investigating staff disciplinary matters, including reportable conduct
  • conducting reviews, including those relating to child deaths
  • monitoring working with children check compliance of departmental employees
  • delivering integrity education training across the Department
  • identifying and managing serious misconduct risk associated with fraud and corruption.

The Role

The Department of Education is seeking an individual with relevant or transferable experience to join our team as a Senior Investigator.

In this role, you will support outcomes of the Department’s Standards and Integrity Directorate by investigating complex and sensitive matters, including staff conduct and reportable conduct. Your work will help uphold the values of the organisation and promote safe, accountable, and ethical workplace and learning environments.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience conducting investigations in a public sector, regulatory or compliance setting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Sound judgement and discretion when managing sensitive or confidential matters.
  • A commitment to upholding integrity, ethical conduct and child safety in alignment with public expectations and legislative requirements.

The successful applicant for this position will initially be a key member of the newly established Early Resolution Team, which is an initiative focused on the timely prioritisation and risk assessment of matters approved for discipline investigation and early resolution of less complex matters to reduce investigation timeframes and minimise the impact of the disciplinary process on those affected by or subject to complaints. The Early Resolution Team will initially report to the Manager Investigations work group, however, will be moved to the Manager Assessments, towards the end of 2025, in accordance with structural realignment within the Standards and Integrity Directorate and focus on connecting the Early Resolution Team with the Complaints Coordination function.
