About Infrastructure

The Infrastructure team develops and manages infrastructure programs and projects. It ensures Western Australia’s cultural, arts, sporting and recreation infrastructure are well planned, designed and managed to meet community needs in line with Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ strategic objectives. 

About the role

Are you ready to make a difference in the delivery of community infrastructure for sport, recreation, arts, and cultural industries across Western Australia? Join our team as a Project Officer and help us bring impactful projects to life!

We are seeking to establish a pool of motivated and dynamic Project Officers to assist with the planning and delivery of a portfolio of major and capital projects, and delivery of new grants funding programs on behalf of the State Government.

The DLGSC Infrastructure Division is divided into two business areas and we be utilising this pool to appoint to Level 5 Project Officer roles within both areas:

Infrastructure - Major & Capital Projects

The Project Officer aids in planning and delivering infrastructure projects by conducting research, coordinating tasks, liaising with stakeholders, and managing project administration for DLGSC's major and capital works. Liaising with key stakeholders and state government agencies this role provides project management support services to project teams. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing project plans, briefing notes, procurement documentation, contract and project governance administration and coordination of committees and groups.

Infrastructure - Strategic Policy, Programs and Asset Management

The Project Officer supports the Programs team by conducting research, liaising with stakeholders and providing advice to government agencies, state sporting associations, local governments, non-profit organisations, and the community. This support helps address strategic directions identified by the Department for planning state, regional, and local sport, recreation, and community infrastructure. You will perform project, contract and grant management functions relating to state government investment in local, regional and state sporting and recreation related infrastructure. This role involves carrying out government priorities and policies, including fulfilling election commitments for community infrastructure.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • An understanding of project management principles and techniques with experience in supporting infrastructure or related projects.
  • The ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders and individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency in utilising information from various sources to analyse and make decisions within guidelines, ensuring tasks are completed within deadlines and showing initiative in advancing tasks when necessary.
