Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC), an Independent Public School, is located in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 27 kilometers from the Perth Central Business District (CBD). We currently accept students from Years 7 to 12. The vision for Joseph Banks SC is to create a vibrant culture of excellence, innovation, opportunity and success for students, staff and the community. The focus of our work is on quality teaching and provision of the widest range of opportunities for individual achievement and learning success. Our goal is to develop the school as a centre for best practice in teacher development and student attainment through professional conversation and shared practice.

Our goal is for all students to be literate, numerate, and curious, through the provision of a broad based 21st Century curriculum. It is expected that all students will receive individual attention, and support will be provided for all students no matter their background. The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. You should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of English.

You should have high expectations, exhibit a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and can establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. The successful applicant will ideally display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you should be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success.

Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of English Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 to 12 in a highly engaging manner.

As such, the successful applicant will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. A strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and demonstrated ability in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information Communication Technology (ICT) based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
