The Role

We seek motivated applicants with a passion for teaching Education Support across Kindergarten to year 12, possessing a solid understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. In your role as an Education Support Teacher, you would deliver a curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of all students, fostering an environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.
Succesful applicants should provide a supported functional and academic learning environment for students with disabilities. You should work towards continuous improvement of school programs and develop a highly skilled and proficient workforce. Successful applicants will ideally have experience managing Education Assistants (EA) in a classroom setting with the ability to plan within the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Curriculum Framework. In this role you would individualise curriculum to meet Individual Education Plans (IEP) and educational outcomes.
Experience in creating and using TEACCH trays, visual schedules, choice boards and rewards systems, in addition to the ability to plan IEPs and dynamic ability to plan individualised learning outcomes is required. A good understanding of diagnosed conditions such as Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and mental health, and how they impact on student learning, is highly regarded. Knowledge of Education Support teaching practices, understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and restorative practice highly desirable. Knowledge in delivering social skills programs and self-regulation programs would also be highly desirable.
Successful applicants should be strong team players and be able to manage Education Assistants effectively and efficiently. You will ideally have strong teamwork and communication skills and the ability to set and maintain classroom routines and expectations. Education Support experience in a Primary and Secondary setting will be highly regarded. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently with other teachers, parents, carers, therapists, and a range of other professionals along with having a good understanding of Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Standards and the ability to develop self.
