We are seeking to establish a pool of School Officer for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.


Students at Thornlie Primary School are provided with a safe and highly engaging learning environment focused on developing their academic, social, behavioural and emotional potential.

The Role

As School Officer applicants would be the first point of contact for our school and will be responsible for completing administrative duties including greeting all visitors, answering the telephone and responding to routine enquiries and requests for information. Suitable applicants will ideally have a friendly, positive and caring attitude and possess the qualities to promote excellence within our school and to interact with parents and the wider community.

  • Highly desirable but not necessary skills would include an ability to:
  • Work effectively and collaboratively within a diverse team and with other agencies and service providers
  • Effectively communicate with culturally and linguistically diverse students and families
  • Utilise appropriate services to support effective communication with non-English speaking parents and students  
  • Engage with students, parents and staff in a patient, respectful and friendly manner
  • Work within a rewarding and often challenging environment
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with bus contractor employees to ensure smooth transport arrangements are in place for students
  • Manage regular changes within the work environment related to the ongoing enrolment and transition of students
