Aveley Primary School (PS), an Independent Primary School, is located approximately 26 km north east of the Perth CBD, in the Department of Education's North Metropolitan Educational Region. Our school is located east of Ellenbrook and south of The Vines.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate strong instructional leadership and curriculum knowledge, with the capacity and experience to lead whole school evidence-based approaches and drive improvements in literacy and numeracy in upper primary. The applicant should have the ability to lead change management initiatives from inception through to implementation with fidelity, using data and evidence to inform strategic decisions.
We have recently begun a whole-school journey into restorative practice through a partnership with Real Schools. This work is based on research around building resilience, empathy, confidence, conflict resolution skills, strong relationships, and a sense of community in young people. A strong understanding of restorative practices and experience supporting students at educational risk would be highly desirable, as the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting staff to embed these practices into our everyday culture.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a deep understanding of student services policies and processes, ensuring all students are supported to engage meaningfully in teaching and learning programs. You will also play a key role in supporting staff to meet the diverse and often complex needs of our students. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are important, along with the ability to foster a collaborative and professional relationships both within the school and with outside agencies.
At Aveley PS, we are committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment through the strategic integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). As Deputy Principal, you would lead the management of our ICT infrastructure, ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of our ICT replacement schedule. This involves overseeing the leasing and purchasing of ICT equipment, facilitating timely upgrades, and ensuring the sustainability of our technological resources. A key initiative of this role will be the continued expansion of our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students in Years 3 to 6. Building upon our established framework, you will ideally work collaboratively with staff to enhance their capacity to effectively integrate technology into teaching practices, thereby enriching student engagement and learning outcomes. Additionally, you should support and guide families in understanding the benefits of the BYOD program, ensuring equitable access and fostering strong home-school partnerships. Your role will be pivotal in driving the development of ICT policies and practices that align with our school's strategic goals, ensuring that technology serves as a powerful tool to support 21st-century learning.
A key responsibility of the role will ideally be leading Aveley PS Instructional Coaching program, now in its second year of implementation. With strong staff commitment to professional growth, you will foster a collaborative culture focused on building teaching capacity and enhancing evidence-based practice. In partnership with the Lead Instructional Coach, you will ensure a cohesive, school-wide coaching model that supports high-impact teaching strategies and drives improved student learning outcomes across all year levels.
