This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2025

Gilmore College is an Independent Public School which opened in 2008, continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools. The Role

The role of the Education Assistant - Special Needs - Lead is to lead, mentor, coach and model effective practices for other Education Assistants.  The successful applicant may be required to coordinate processes that ensure adequate relief staff are sourced, workforce inductions are completed, and relevant training is provided and will be confident addressing large groups of educators.

The successful applicant should possess effective interpersonal skills to develop a strong rapport with students, staff, families and therapists and will advocate as part of an effective team to promote success for all students. Under limited guidance, you will coordinate support for the effective implementation of therapy and education programs, both at school and for offsite activities, and liaise with all stakeholders to ensure the consistent delivery of programs across the school.

Knowledge and understanding of the impact of disability and experience in leading the learning of colleagues is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will ideally display a commitment to our school vision, values and priorities for a meaningful and relevant curriculum, high quality teaching, a positive learning environment and strong family and community partnerships. Enabling communication for students with complex communication needs should be a priority.  The successful applicant should support the consistent and effective use of augmentative and alternative modes of communication, specific to the individual, and lead the learning of classroom teams to create resources and strategies that enhance access and engagement with their personalised educational programs and goals. Experience in a similar setting is highly desirable.
