East Kimberley College is one of the largest K-12 schools in the State with approximately 1100 students enrolled. With almost 52% of enrolments being indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students of any school in the State. The Role

East Kimberley College is seeking a suitably qualified, passionate, and committed English – Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) teacher to join our team. At East Kimberley College we strive for excellence by nurturing individual abilities, providing meaningful opportunities and fostering positive, respectful relationships.

The successful applicant will be assigned lower-school English and HaSS classes through to the end of 2025. The successful applicant will ideally possess the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant English and HaSS curriculum. In this role, you will promote and foster student engagement and achievement through building productive working relationships with students. Flexibility will be provided to work across Years 7 – 12 when allocating classes in 2026 and beyond.

To be suitable for this role, you will be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as demonstrate an engaging and energetic teaching style. You will ideally promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable all students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you should work closely with your colleagues to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. East Kimberley College has a strong focus on Explicit Instruction, the successful applicant will ideally possess experience in utilising this pedagogical approach to deliver a highly engaging Secondary English curriculum.

Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
