We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Principal Education Officer to drive system-wide improvements in teaching and learning across WA’s public schools. This role is a unique opportunity to develop, evidence based resources and build tools to support schools to implement whole school approaches, and strengthen student outcomes.
About The Role
As a Principal Education Officer, you will work collaboratively to:
- Lead and support strategic priorities that enhance teaching quality and student performance across the system.
- Research, design, and implement specialist teaching and learning services to support schools.
- Develop system-wide tools and frameworks that enable schools to implement whole school approaches.
- Provide high-level expert advice to guide the development of strategies, services and supports that drive whole-school change.
- Create professional learning programs, initiatives, and resources to build teacher capability and leadership.
- Use data and performance analysis to identify trends and inform continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate across teams, business units, and stakeholders to integrate policies, services, and resources.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and system-wide recommendations to inform senior decision-making and policy direction.
About You
You are an education leader with a passion for system-wide impact, capable of developing and implementing approaches to support large-scale system initiatives and projects. Your ability to influence change, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders will be key to your success.
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary, evidence-based teaching and learning practices.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing education initiatives and system-wide tools that support school whole school approaches and connected and tiered services and supports .
- Strong leadership and change management skills to influence best practices across the system.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex educational challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to consult, negotiate, and collaborate with school leaders and key partners.
- Exceptional written skills, with experience in preparing reports, briefings, and professional learning materials.

- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
