The Education Officer Level 2 Instructional Coach supports the implementation of evidence-based teaching practices to improve student achievement across Western Australia. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and the facilitation of professional learning, aligned with the Teaching for Impact overview of the Quality Teaching Strategy. The EO2 Instructional Coach works collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, and stakeholders to enhance instructional effectiveness, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and whole-school approaches, aligned to a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support model (MTSS).
About The Role
As an Instructional Coach, you will play a key role in strengthening teaching practices and supporting school improvement by:
- Providing instructional coaching and professional learning that:
- Targets coaching to school-based coaches using the Impact Coaching model through the lens of Teaching for Impact to strengthen instructional practices.
- Facilitates professional learning aligned to Teaching for Impact and small group intervention strategies.
- Collaborating and building relationships that:
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with school leaders, teachers, and stakeholders.
- Enable working in partnership with Statewide Services and school teams to co-develop strategies that supports effective universal quality teaching across the school.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for student success.
- Demonstrating culturally responsive practices
- Demonstrate a commitment to cultural responsiveness, ensuring teaching strategies respect and incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
- Support schools in creating inclusive learning environments that acknowledge and value diverse student backgrounds.
- Effectively communicating
- Communicating complex educational concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including educators, school leaders, and policymakers.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and professional learning materials to support continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Integrating technology
- Supporting teachers to integrate technology effectively into their instructional practices.
- Facilitating data-driven decision making
- Using student achievement data to inform instructional coaching and guide improvements in teaching practice and Teaching and Learning interventions.
- Monitoring and evaluating the impact of coaching and profession learning programs using relevant data sources.
- Adopting whole school approaches
- Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to improve student outcomes at the whole-school level.

You are a qualified teacher, eligible for registration in Western Australia, with a passion for improving education and supporting fellow educators. With strong communication and leadership skills, you thrive in delivering professional learning and guiding teachers towards success.

Eligibility

- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for
- registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
