Broome Primary School (PS)  is currently a decile 10 school with an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) of 860. The school was established in 1901, and is the oldest public school in the Kimberley. Broome PS is established on Yawuru land and embraces the rich Aboriginal culture, along with the diverse and multicultural aspects of the Broome community. The school actively promotes a culture that strives to maintain positive and respectful relationships with students, parents and the wider community. The four expectations of Care, Respect, Pride and Success form the cornerstone of the school’s values and are evident in the teaching and learning programs throughout the school.

The Location and Community

Broome is located on the shores of Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley region of Australia. It is 2200 km away from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Broome has an interesting history based around the exploits of the men and women who developed the pearling industry in the 1880s. This history has created a population that is a unique blend of First Nation, Asian and European cultures. Broome is rich in Aboriginal culture and is the traditional home of the Yawuru and Djugun people.

The Role

As the Manager Corporate Services (MCS), you will be responsible for the delivery of quality corporate services including financial, physical and human resources processes of the school. The MCS oversees the business operations, and works with the leadership team to recruit, supervise and manage school support staff. This involves working closely and collaboratively with the Principal and School Leadership team. The MCS works as an integral part of the Leadership Team with a focus on, school and student administration, financial management, human resource management, buildings and asset management, information and communication technology management, promotions and public relations.

The successful applicant will ideally be experienced in using the Schools Resourcing System and have well established financial management capabilities, be a strategic leader and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. To be successful in this role, you should have the ability to manage change where improvements are identified and possess high level interpersonal skills which enable the development of positive relationships across the school. You should ideally be able to work across all areas of school administration and a knowledge of the challenges and rewards of providing education services to students with special educational needs would be a benefit. Compassion and understanding of the need to work effectively with diverse groups of staff, students, families and the wider community is a highly desirable component of the role.
