The People and Student Achievement Division is seeking to establish a pool of qualified and experienced Directors to support school principals in their professional growth in the provision of high quality leadership across the Western Australian public education system.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Education’s strategic plan outlines the commitment for every child to have access to high quality education. Principals perform one of the most valued roles in our system, and their leadership is central in supporting better outcomes for our students. We are committed to supporting our principals through the Principal Professional Review (PPR).
As part of our senior leadership team, our Directors support principals through the PPR, which contributes to strengthening public confidence that every principal is operating effectively across the system and providing students with quality education.
About the Role
As Director PPR, your primary responsibilities will be to lead, manage and conduct professional reviews of principals on their performance. With a focus on professional growth, support and assurance, you will assist principals in reflecting on their leadership effectiveness, evaluating how they are meeting expectations and where they can improve to advance teaching and learning in their school.
Building and maintaining effective relationships are critical to this role as you will be required to collaborate with principals, corporate executive, directors of education and collegiate principals. You will maintain working relationships to ensure access to diverse specialist knowledge and expertise to inform and strengthen the professional review process.
You will also have exemplary written communication skills to meet the reporting requirements of the role.
Directors of PPR will be required to travel state wide across all public schools to undertake this function. This may include overnight stays.

Pool Appointments
Applicants deemed suitable through this selection process will be placed in an appointment pool for 12 months/until end of June 2026. Appointments may be made on a fixed term, full time basis with a tenure of up to 5 years.
