This is a permanent full-time position commencing July 2025

The Financial Policy and Governance Branch is part of the Financial Services Directorate and is responsible for:

  • the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, guidelines and standards that support the Division
  • the development and maintenance of financial policies for Schools
  • the development of policies and guidelines associated with gifts, travel and hospitality
  • the development, implementation and coordination of the compliance audit program

The Role

The Finance and Commercial Services Division is seeking a highly motivated Senior Compliance Officer to join the financial services branch.

A great opportunity exists to join a vibrant and enthusiastic team of compliance review/audit professionals. The school compliance review program is a key part of the governance and assurance framework over finances in WA public schools. The program works with school staff and promotes a positive culture of high integrity, self awareness and self improvement.

This diverse senior level school compliance officer position presents an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified financial audit or compliance professional to lead and contribute towards supporting schools, and great outcomes for the Department of Education.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead a team of two (2) compliance officers as well as managing and undertaking financial compliance audits against the Department’s financial management framework.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and well developed knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework, standards, risk management and best practice methodologies relevant to financial compliance.

You will ideally have well developed interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, and work independently and in a team environment.

The role is based at 151 Royal St East Perth, and requires regular travel to school sites to conduct onsite reviews and provides opportunity to travel around the State. Travel related costs are met by the Department in accordance with Public Sector Award.
