The Art Gallery of Western Australia develops and maintains the best public art collection in the State and the world’s pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art. Our purpose is to preserve, interpret, display and acquire historic and contemporary visual arts. Through our collections, programs and events, we offer visitors exciting encounters with Western Australia art, Australian Indigenous art and the art of the world. The Art Gallery of Western Australia has an established national and international reputation and brings major world exhibitions to Western Australia and takes Western Australian initiated exhibitions to the world.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has exceptional attention to detail for a fast-paced and diverse role.

Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, the successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Provide a contemporary and customer-focused consultancy service to managers and staff on HR matters, including recruitment and selection, establishment, redeployment, learning and development, and reporting.
  • Provide customer-focused advice and support to employees on HR systems.
  • Redesign processes and explore existing technology so that we do less processing and more high value, exciting work. 
  • Assist in the development and review of HR-related policies and procedures in accordance with Industrial Awards and Agreements, and relevant legislation.
  • Help internal customers to understand WA Public Sector processes and find efficiencies. 
  • Monitor and maintain records (and provide advice, where necessary) on specific HR-related matters including, Secondary Employment declarations, conflict of interest, Working with Children, work placements and other areas, as required.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring human resource-related projects.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports to stakeholders to deliver information to meet HR reporting requirements.

Location

This position is located within the Cultural Centre hub close to the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.

Conditions

This is a permanent full time position.  Applicants deemed suitable but not preferred will be placed into a pool where appointments may be considered for similar vacancies in the future for full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanency within the Art Gallery.

In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered for permanent, fixed term, part time and full time.
