The Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs? East Victoria Park Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant – Special Needs to join our supportive and inclusive team.
In this role, you will ideally work closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning programs that empower every student to reach their full potential. You will ideally play a key part in fostering both academic and social growth, within the classroom and throughout the school community.
The ideal candidate will bring experience and confidence in supporting students with a range of disabilities, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. A strong commitment to student wellbeing and a proactive approach to supporting high and complex medical needs—including hoist use and manual handling—is highly desirable.
We’re looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who can collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external support professionals. You will ideally contribute to the development and review of student plans and assist in creating tailored resources using a variety of technologies.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
