We are seeking to establish a pool of Gardener – Handypersons for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Burns Beach Primary School (PS) is situated in the beautiful beachside suburb of Burns Beach and opened its doors to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in January 2022.

At Burns Beach PS we understand the importance of every child having a strong sense of belonging and feeling safe and valued. Each and every student is known by all staff and feels strongly connected to their peers, their teachers, and the school environment. We provide a strong pastoral care approach that supports the social and emotional health and wellbeing of all our students.

The Role

The suitable applicants will work to provide gardening, grounds, and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. Applicants should maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management.

In this role, you will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.

The suitable applicants will ideally possess good interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work unsupervised but also as part of a team. You will also ideally have an excellent working knowledge of gardening machinery and reticulation.

The suitable applicants should have a passion for gardening and understand the needs of an active school community. We are looking for a team player to work collaboratively with all staff as part of a whole school community, and someone who shows care towards our environment and takes pride in keeping our school grounds immaculate.
