This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2025

Dongara District High School (DHS) is a proud Independent Public School in the Mid-West Education Region, located in one of the most beautiful coastal locations in Western Australia.

Our academic programs are supported by a very high standard of delivery, and we offer our students the opportunity to participate in extension programs using online learning through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) for Years 11 and 12 and on-site delivery of Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) in Geraldton for Years 4 to 6. Year 7 students are provided with a comprehensive transition program in readiness for entering secondary school. We have a partnership with tertiary institutions through the ASPIRE program which supports our academic Year 9 to 11 students to identify university pathways.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally have a passion for Arts, ideally specialising in Performing Arts and Music for years 1 to 8. The successful applicant should have the ability to implement instructional strategies that maximise students’ engagement in their learning and motivate school students to achieve to their full potential. The successful applicant should be a strong and positive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially with other staff.

The successful applicant should provide high-quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students and should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels, differentiating the curriculum across Years 1 to 8 in a highly engaging manner.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
