The Role
Our ideal applicant will have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence and have the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, agencies and the broader school community.
The successful applicant will ideally be motivated, collaborative and highly organised leader who will build on and strengthen our school-wide values and positive culture. You would have a lead role in the development and implementation of the School Wellbeing Framework and support day-to-day secondary student engagement and wellbeing, in collaboration with the school leadership team.
As the Program Coordinator - Wellbeing, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead the implementation of intervention models and planning to target the academic, social, and emotional development of individual students and/or groups of students who require additional support.
- Assist in the provision of support, mentoring and proactive strategies for students requiring additional support with engagement, challenging behaviour and/or wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with our students to ensure student voice is heard and informs planning, policy reform and practise
- Work with key stakeholders to enhance the ‘student experience,’ support the coordination of activities, workplace learning, student events and increase opportunities for student leadership
- Be responsible for driving improvements in evidence-based instructional practices to support students with both diagnosed and imputed needs—such as autism, dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and intellectual disability
- Establish and manage administrative and operational systems in the relevant areas of responsibility, particularly in Special Educational Needs (SEN), to ensure effective operation within Department of Education (DoE) guidelines and policy. Lead the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process and support teachers working with students who require a significant level of differentiated educational delivery
The successful applicant will ideally have a good understanding of positive behaviour support and effective school and classroom student engagement practises. They should be able to contribute knowledge, understanding and interventions to the conditions that support student engagement and wellbeing. Previous experience and knowledge of Trauma Informed Practices in a school setting would be highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge, skills and experience of the Western Australian Curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements for Years 7 to 10 with an understanding of Reporting to Parents systems and the Connect platform.
This role may involve a 0.2 – 0.4 FTE (maximum) teaching load. A proportion of this load may be allocated to the delivery of targeted wellbeing programs or allocated based on the successful applicant’s qualifications, background and skill set.
