We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants should have a high level of interpersonal skills to enable them to work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. They will ideally possess the knowledge, experience, and ability to support student growth, both academically and socially. The suitable applicants should have excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to student learning and show a willingness to contribute and be part of a positive team environment.

Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. They will provide literacy, numeracy and behavioural support and ideally be highly knowledgeable and experienced in working with children with disability, including those with physical, cognitive, social and emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs.

The Special Needs Education Assistant will ideally have the knowledge of effective strategies to support students, combined with the ability to be highly organised and use initiative. You will assist the teacher with the operation of computers and digital technologies, implement individual or small group programs, and the supervision of students in out of class activities and on school excursions.  Suitable applicants will work across classrooms, so flexibility is important. You will also assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining materials and resources, for use in classes, displays and demonstration, and assisting the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities.

  5. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  6. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
