The Role
East Victoria Park ESC is seeking dynamic and motivated Special Needs Education Assistants to join their welcoming team.
The successful applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery and assessment of planned education programs. You will work under general supervision or autonomously and contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement.
You should be committed to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice as well as plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which includes collaboration with colleagues. You should also contribute to and maintain a team environment.
Our school caters for 57 children from Kindergarten to Year 6 with cognitive, intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Applicants who have experience in working with students with special needs in a primary Education Support setting, as well as experience in working with children with Autism, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability and complex behavioural needs will be highly regarded.
Familiarity with Augmentative Alternative Communication, Positive Behaviour Support, Berry Street Education Model and Zones of Regulation Program is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. 6. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
