Katanning Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their school.

Katanning SHS is a unique and distinctive secondary school located in the heart of the Great Southern region of WA. Students have the opportunity to engage in a challenging and comprehensive educational program within a caring and nurturing school. The Ideal Teacher

The succesful applicant will ideally have high expectations, exhibit a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and can establish and maintain positive relationships. You should be flexible and able to apply strategies for differentiated instruction. Additionally, Teachers at the school are expected to embrace the Whole School Instructional Model which features components of an Explicit Direct Instruction methodology.  

At Katanning SHS, we are committed to improving the literacy skills of our students in lower school to support their achievement across the Year 7 - 10 curriculum and to provide a solid platform for their success in both General and ATAR level courses in Senior School. The successful applicant should also have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). 

We are seeking applicants who can ideally create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress. You will be supported in this pursuit by both the Executive and middle leaders’ group, with professional development readily available to support professional aspirations.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
