The Role
The role of the Education Assistant - Lead is to provide leadership, mentor, coach, and model good practices for other Education Assistants in a Department Endorsed Education Support Program at Canning Vale College.
You will ideally be an important and valued leader supporting the HUB Program Coordinator in leading and managing the Education Assistant workforce. This will ideally include coordination of timetables and relief for Education Assistants in the HUB.
The successful applicant should operate collaboratively and be able to build and maintain effective team-based relationships. The successful applicant will ideally be highly professional, organised and display excellent communication skills, drawing on these attributes when working with staff school community and external agencies.
The successful applicant will be able to perform tasks which require discretion in problem solving, decision making and choosing methods and processes to achieve outcomes. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to have experience in dealing with students with a range of complex learning and behavioural needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and severe mental health diagnoses.

- Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs.
- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
