The Role
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs (EASN), you will support students in developing confidence and a sense of well-being across diverse educational settings. Using your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will collaborate with teachers and colleagues to help create inclusive education programs that accommodate the individual needs of students. You will be expected to use initiative to support the delivery of planned programs, applying your understanding of differentiation and intervention strategies to assist students in accessing the curriculum. Experience in literacy support and explicit instruction is highly desirable.
In addition to these core responsibilities, you may be required to undertake general duties that support students with a range of special needs, including intellectual and physical disabilities, sensory impairments (vision and hearing), and Autism Spectrum Disorder. A willingness to work with students with high and complex medical needs is also highly desirable. Suitable applicants will assist in the preparation and maintenance of learning environments, ensuring equipment, materials, and resources are ready for use in classes, displays, and demonstrations. You will also support the safe and clean storage of these items after use. The ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively—both in writing and orally—is essential for the successful implementation of individual and small group-based programs.
