North Lake Senior Campus is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2025 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2026.
North Lake Senior Campus is a multi-cultural senior campus that has an adult ethos. The campus is open to students from all schooling backgrounds and caters for both compulsory and post compulsory aged students. Staff and students work in partnership to develop individual pathways for students to prepare them for employment or further study at TAFE or university.
We offer a range of ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), General, Foundation and Vocational programs for students wishing to achieve their WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) with the added flexibility to combine part time schooling with Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and/or employment to cater for students’ individual circumstances. The campus is based across 2 sites, the main campus in Kardinya and our Fremantle Fast Track engagement program.

The Role
In this role you will collaborate with the classroom teacher to assist in the planning and delivery of educational programs to support the learning and development of students with special needs, and mainstream students, as required. Part of your role is to ensure high quality outcomes for students, Education Assistants – Special Needs ideally build positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and stakeholders.
Suitable applicants will be working with students with a range of complex issues, many related to mental health and require support to actively engage in their education. Experience working with students with Autism will be advantageous.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
