The Role
As the Cleaner In Charge, you will be responsible for supervising cleaning staff and ensuring all areas of the school are cleaned and maintained to departmental standards. Duties include organising rosters, reporting absences, arranging relief staff, and conducting monthly cleaning inspections with the Manager Corporate Services. You will also open and secure the school each day, including setting the security alarm system.
The role involves maintaining accurate records such as the cleaners’ time-book, leave and allowance forms, and the Communication Book. You will be expected to provide induction training for new staff, manage stock and equipment within budget, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the handling and documentation of hazardous substances.
In consultation with the Manager Corporate Services, you will monitor and manage staff performance and leave entitlements. You will also liaise on all cleaning matters to ensure practices are consistent with current departmental policies and procedures.
