This is a permanent full-time position commencing July 2025
Delivery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services provides support for the Department’s educational outcomes by developing initiatives and technical support strategies to ensure all 800+ Western Australian public schools can be individual, distinctive and responsive to their local communities while still benefiting from being part of a system.
The Role
As the SIS Training Officer, you will form part of a growing, energetic team, providing highly customer focused support to WA public schools. You will provide leadership and advice to school staff, business areas and external agencies on the use of the Department’s school and student administration solution.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of training and support materials and undertake review of policies, standards and strategies to ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements. Your work will be framed in the context of school administrative operations which includes student enrolment, attendance, well-being and timetabling, and excludes content for financial and K-12 curriculum related activities.
The position will require travel within the metropolitan area and to regional WA to provide training to school staff across the state. Despite being an ICT position this is not a technical role.
This is a new position to help meet increasing training demands for the SIS replacement system.
The ideal candidate for this position will:
- have excellent interpersonal skills enjoy collaborating with stakeholders and policy owners to ensure training is delivered to promote compliance, align with Departmental procedures and to streamline processes.
- have well developed written communication skills and experience in designing and delivering training materials in group settings, in the context of school administration processes, procedures and operations.
- have excellent research and collaboration skills to ensure that the training is process driven and tailored to suit adult learners with various levels of experience.
- be skilled at identifying gaps in the knowledge and understanding of the user base and adapting training materials to address those gaps.
- enjoy researching contemporary training modes and delivery to ensure the needs of our customer base are met i.e. from novice learner to experienced end user.
- a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or similar, would be beneficial but is not essential.
