The Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) acknowledges the Aboriginal people throughout Western Australia as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands, waters, and communities in which we operate. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal people and their cultures, and to Elders past and present.
About the department
DLGSC is a very diverse agency that supports all Western Australians by giving them opportunities to reach their potential and live their very best lives.
Our purpose is to foster a cohesive, prosperous, vibrant and healthy Western Australian community. This is fundamental to WA’s economic development and diversification. It’s key to assuring opportunities for our children and young people into the future. It helps maintain and strengthen the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all community members, and it promotes participation and encourages trust in our government at all levels.
Staff in our department work across the areas of arts, culture and creative industries; sport and recreation industries; racing, gaming and liquor-related industry sectors; the local government sector; culturally and linguistically diverse communities, groups and organisations; and major arts, culture, sporting and recreation infrastructure projects. We also support the people of WA, including First Nations peoples, to connect to their culture and history through Aboriginal History Western Australia, and the State Records Office.
Why work with us?
At DLGSC we are all about ensuring our workforce is made up of ‘Good Humans’!
Finding them, retaining them, and helping them to be the best they can be for themselves, for us, for the people we supply services to, and for our vision of a vibrant, inclusive and resilient Western Australian community.
Our diverse organisation is supported by exceptional, everyday people from all walks of life and many different backgrounds who are supported to genuinely contribute to inclusivity in the workplace.
If you want to work in an inspirational organisation where you have a voice and can contribute to the things that matter to you, then join our awesome team!
We are proudly an equal opportunity employer committed to workplace equity. We support diversity and inclusion in the public sector because it makes us stronger as an organisation, and better able to meet our community’s needs. We strongly encourage people with disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women and youth to apply.
DLGSC are committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
