This is a permanent full-time position commencing June 2025
The Non-Government School Regulation Directorate oversees the registration of non-government schools in Western Australia. Registration provides assurance to parents and the community that non-government schools meet the standards determined by the Minister for Education and other requirements specified in Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000. The Directorate also oversees the registration of schools registered to enrol international student visa holders.
The Role
The Senior Regulation Officer plays a key role in ensuring the effective regulation of non-government schools, international education providers, and community-based senior secondary courses in Western Australia. This position is responsible for providing high-level advice on registration and compliance matters, supporting schools and governing bodies in meeting regulatory requirements. The role involves conducting complex assessments and in-depth analysis, preparing detailed reports, and contributing to the continuous improvement of client-centred regulatory services. In addition, the Senior Regulation Officer works collaboratively with State and Commonwealth agencies, maintaining strong communication networks to support national and state regulatory developments.
This role also includes mentoring and supervising education regulation officers, fostering a high-performing team environment. The successful candidate will oversee performance monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring compliance with state and national accountability and reporting requirements. A focus on stakeholder engagement and consultation will be essential in delivering integrated regulatory services and advice to schools. The Senior Regulation Officer will interpret and analyse emerging trends, policy changes, and technological advancements that may impact school regulation, ensuring that regulatory practices remain effective and responsive to sector needs.
