This is a permanent, full-time position commencing as soon as possible
The Role
Working at Port Hedland Primary School (PS) has so much to offer! If you are a dedicated educator, looking for a new challenge with over $15,000 in additional allowances on top of the quoted base salary, then we would love to hear from you. Schools in the Pilbara are well known for providing extensive opportunities for professional development and can be a fast track into leadership opportunities if this is of interest.
We are looking for a Primary Teacher to join our friendly Team.
As a Primary Educator, you will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging, and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs. The successful applicant should also have a good understanding of, and ability to deliver, the Western Australian Primary Curriculum. We are seeking a teacher who has strong classroom management and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) skills to successfully engage students in their learning.
We are looking for a collegiate teacher who can work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) as part of a team with all staff. Port Hedland PS does not have a large enrolment of Aboriginal students, however we do expect the successful applicant to be able to express their respect for and value Aboriginal culture and connection to Country, the histories, and experiences of Aboriginal people, and see all students’ culture as a strength.
We value applicants who are committed to ongoing self-reflection, expanding your knowledge, and improving practices through working collaboratively with your colleagues and the community to implement whole school approaches. Ideally, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and organisation in a vibrant and inclusive classroom atmosphere. We are looking for applicants whose approach will be flexible and adaptive, as you understand the nuances and implications for your teaching, as you get to know your students, their families, and communities.
Whilst not essential, applicants who have experience in Talk for Writing, Prime Mathematics, PBS, Explicit Direction Instruction (EDI) or The Resilience Project will be well regarded.
Our School
Located attractively near the beach, Port Hedland PS is a school of choice in the Hedland area with an enrolment base of 490 students. Our families mainly encompass those employed in the mining industry and in professional positions in the region.
Our students have a range of opportunities to develop academically, socially and personally with the support and care of dedicated teachers and school staff working with families.
We love having parents involved in our school and in their children's education, and we develop strong and positive relationships in the community. Activities during the year like parent information sessions, parent-teacher interviews, open nights and concerts, allow parents to interact with class teachers and be part of their children's learning. We have a dedicated and pro-active School Board and P&C.
