The Role
CLC is seeking a professional, flexible and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Manager of Inclusive Education to join the school’s leadership team. As the Manager of Inclusive Education, you would be pivotal in assisting with the ongoing establishment of school culture and promotion of the college’s motto of Imagine, Believe, Inspire and Achieve.
CLC provides highly individualised programs to students with a full spectrum of disabilities, providing excellent educational opportunities within the context of an inclusive school with specialist facilities. In consultation with the Deputy Principal, the Program Coordinator – Manager of Inclusive Education will provide educational leadership in identified key areas in the development of the College; the development of a paraprofessional workforce supporting student needs; the development and promotion of inclusive educational practices across the whole school and the development of specialised teaching and learning practices including, but not limited to Ability Based Learning -Western Australia (ABLEWA) and endorsed programs such Award Schene Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), Workplace Learning, Transition Planning and Vocational Education and Training (VET)
The successful applicant will ideally be a leader in an education support environment that caters for students with a wide range of special education needs including those with potentially severe and profound disabilities. Ideally, you will have extensive and contemporary professional knowledge of secondary special education programs, expertise in coordinating case management for students with complex medical and behavioural needs (including Special Education Needs students predominately based in a mainstream context) and the ability to produce and implement clear, evidence-based improvement plans for the development of the college and its facilities. An important focus will be on working collaboratively with parents, staff and the local community and external service providers fostering effective partnerships focused on high quality education provided in a safe, caring and supportive learning environment. High level interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills are integral to this role.
Strategic Responsibilities and Expectations
As the Manager of Inclusion, you will ideally play a key role in assisting the School Executive Team in building and sustaining an inclusive culture across the College. You will ideally lead and implement innovative and contemporary learning support practices to facilitate successful outcomes for students in the I, that could also be implemented across the College for students with identified learning support needs. You will ideally work closely with the Deputy Principal of Inclusive Education and Alternative Pathways to strategically plan and deliver educational leadership that supports the achievement of the College’s vision, priorities and goals. You should value teamwork, collaboration and positive working relationships with students, colleagues and parents and model this through your leadership.
Operational Responsibilities and Expectations
As the Manager of Inclusions, you will liaise with Program Coordinator’s across the school to ensure adapted year level teaching and learning programs and assessments are embedded in options classes. You will ideally offer professional guidance to all Inclusive Education teachers, ensuring they are up to date with curriculum developments, high impact instruction and disability informed practice to support student learning and engagement.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Establishing and managing administrative and operational systems in the relevant areas of responsibility in the IE to ensure the effective operation of the Inclusive Education (IE) within DOE guidelines and policy
- Enhancing teaching and learning outcomes in the IE Program through; effective performance management, facilitating professional learning and leading the implementation of the College’s Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework through a disability lens.
- Lead data informed practice and a culture of continuous improvement within the IE, building shared effort and commitment amongst staff to achieve this.
- Leading the Special Educational Needs (SEN) & Special Educational Needs (IEP) planning and review process for students in the IE. Engaging with School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEN:D), Special Educational Needs (SSEN): Medical and Mental Health (MMH) and other supports available.
- Reviewing the Schools Disability Resourcing applications for students in the IE
- Leadership and support of teachers working with identified students requiring a significant level of differentiated educational delivery in the IE and mainstream options areas.
- Supporting and tracking the improvement of literacy and numeracy outcomes for students through suitable intervention and differentiation strategies within the classroom.
- The management of student behaviour and engagement as the Program Coordinator of the Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
- Engage with the school’s Respect Framework within the IE context
- As a school leader, the ability to embed a culture of professional leadership, trust, and ongoing improvement through active engagement with students, staff, parents, and the wider community will be highly regarded.
