Kalamunda Primary Education Support Centre (KP ESC) is looking for dedicated, caring, and proactive Education Assistants – Special Needs to join our team. We are establishing a pool of enthusiastic individuals for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time opportunities that may arise throughout the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs, you will work closely with teachers to support students with diverse learning needs across our Kindergarten to Year 6 classrooms. You will assist with implementing, delivering, and assessing educational programs, while also helping to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
We are seeking individuals who ideally:
- Are positive, motivated, and self-reflective
- Have experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Can support individual, small-group, and whole-class programs
- Have knowledge of documented plans and student progress evaluation
- Possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Experience in explicit teaching programs within an Education Support setting will be highly regarded.
Additional Skills & Experience
While not essential, we would love to hear from applicants with experience in:
- Supporting students with medical health plans
- Using positive behaviour support strategies
- Implementing Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH) strategies
- Supporting Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) approaches

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

- A CV of up to two (2) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
- A two (2) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
