The Role
Ridge View SC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, effective, and dedicated leader as Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – English. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding educator to lead a dynamic English team and play a key role in shaping teaching and learning excellence in the English Learning area and across the college. In alignment with our Vision and Business Plan, the successful applicant should provide exceptional educational leadership within the English department and collaborate with members of the Executive and School Leadership Teams to drive innovation and achieve whole school objectives.
As an instructional leader, the HOLA – English will be responsible for overseeing the development of engaging teaching and learning programs that cater to the diverse needs of students. A deep knowledge and understanding of the Years 7-12 English curriculum, including Senior School English Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR and General) and Literature (ATAR), will be essential. The successful applicant should foster a culture of collaboration and professional growth, using data-driven insights to evaluate student progress and enhance teaching effectiveness.
The successful applicant should have high standards of professionalism, a growth mindset, and a passion for education. They will ideally be an interpersonal leader who can provide direction and structure, while also building the capacity of their team and fostering the professional growth of individual teachers. The ideal applicant will be a skilled and dedicated classroom practitioner, with experience leading an English department being a desirable asset. They will ideally model best practices in instructional coaching, assessment, and responsive teaching while building strong relationships with students, staff, and the wider college community.
