
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Cyril Jackson Senior Campus Education Support Centre (SC ESC) is a dynamic place which provides educational opportunities for young adults in Years 10 to 13. The school’s curriculum is highly specialised and aligns with effective contemporary pedagogy for students who are neurodiverse learners. Our curriculum focuses on developing functional literacy and numeracy, communication and social and emotional skills. The Role
The Special Needs Education Assistant focusses primarily on the teaching and learning process through assisting the teacher in delivering planned education programs and promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will ideally work under general supervision or autonomously and contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement.
The suitable applicants will ideally be committed to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice as well as plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which includes collaboration with colleagues. You will ideally also contribute to and maintain a positive team environment.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills to enable them to work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. You will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and can support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
