Record (EMR) Program
EMR is a consumer-centred
program that supports healthcare providers to perform their roles
enabling safety and quality to be at the heart of care for every
consumer.
This Program has been
established to digitally transform WA Health’s clinical
information management systems by delivering a Statewide EMR
solution for WA Health. The EMR is identified in the WA Health
Digital Strategy 2020-2030 as the digital keystone to modernising
and improving healthcare across Western Australia.
The EMR Program will
incorporate changes to technology, business processes and culture.
It will take advantage of innovations in digital health care to
improve patient safety and quality of care for the Western
Australian community regardless of their location.
About the
role
We are looking for
an experienced and motivated Director Consumer
Engagement to join our diverse and highly skilled
team in contributing to the health of all Western
Australians.
This appointment
is for 2.5 years
with the possibility of
extension(s).
The Director Consumer
Engagement position will be critical in embedding the consumer
involvement in driving the planning, design, and implementation of
the statewide EMR Program. This role will work collaboratively with
the Health Consumers’ Council (WA) Inc and identified EMR
Chief Information Officer positions across WA Health to effectively
lead the inclusion of a robust consumer voice in the EMR
Program.
This position provides
strategic leadership by promoting and embedding consumer engagement
in all stages of WA Health’s EMR Program. This position
will be responsible and accountable for consumer leadership in
alignment with the
WA Health EMR Consumer Charter and ensures that consumer
codesign is embedded throughout the planning, design,
implementation, and evaluation the Statewide EMR. The EMR Program
has a focus on improved patient outcomes, medication safety and
efficiency and enhanced organisational
reform.

This position will be based
in Perth. However, the incumbent may be required to travel to
remote and regional areas.
Key information for
applicants
Suitable
applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be
made until 31 December 2025. There is currently 1.0 FTE available
for appointment.
To be employed in the WA
public sector, you must be an Australian citizen, have permanent
resident status in Australia, or have a visa that allows you to
live and work in Australia for the period of your employment
contract.
WA Health policies require
applicants to undertake a pre-employment health assessment,
criminal record screening and integrity checking as part of the
appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an
applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical
behaviour.
This position will initially
be established with Health Support Services as the employing
authority; however, the position will report to the Department of
Health (DoH) EMR Program Leadership. In the future, this position
may undergo a review for re-establishment within the DoH and be
re-classified against the Public Sector Award at the equivalent
level.
