The Department’s Standards and Integrity Directorate, within the Professional Standards and Conduct Division, is responsible for assessing and managing complaints in line with the new Complaints and Notifications Policy, investigating staff disciplinary matters, reviewing child deaths and incidents, and monitoring compliance with working with children checks for departmental employees.
The Directorate promotes a culture of integrity by delivering education, training, and support to uphold high standards of conduct among staff, ensuring effective complaint resolution, maintaining child safety, and reducing the risk of serious misconduct, including fraud and corruption. Allegations of staff conduct are investigated in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act 1994, the department’s Code of Conduct, policy framework, and formal instructions from the Public Sector Commissioner.
The Role
As the Coordinator Complaints, you will play a key role in supporting the administration and management of misconduct complaints within the Department. You will be responsible for assessing and classifying allegations, recording and monitoring Local Improvement Actions, and ensuring complaints are processed efficiently in line with established timeframes and quality standards. Providing expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the effective resolution of complaint inquiries and assist in maintaining the Directorate’s investigation management system.
In this role, you will support the development of prevention and education strategies by providing relevant information for reporting and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also assist in implementing policies and strategies to ensure complaints and investigations align with regulatory and legislative requirements. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key external stakeholders, including the Corruption and Crime Commission, WA Police, and the Ombudsman WA, will be essential in ensuring integrity and accountability across the Department’s operations.

- disclose any previous disciplinary findings from an employer; this may involve obtaining written confirmation from current/past employers to demonstrate they have not been the subject of disciplinary investigation resulting in an adverse finding or unresolved disciplinary matter
