
We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs's for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Situated on Grandis Boulevard in Banksia Grove, our school includes five teaching blocks, an administration area, playgrounds, an undercover area, a library, a dental therapy centre, and five multi-purpose courts plus an oval which are shared with the City of Wanneroo.

The Role
Education Assistants are highly valued at our school and are asked to support the teaching and learning of students through assisting the teacher in delivering planned education programs with a particular focus on literacy, numeracy, play and social skills. Suitable applicants should be able to help in the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment and care for and supervise students in and out of class. Our Special Needs Education Assistants may be offered positions in a classroom, small group or individual student support setting. When applying for this role you must be willing to be placed in Early Childhood classroom roles as well as Special Needs support roles.
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will participate in professional learning opportunities to further build your skills and knowledge. In joining our dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff, you should be willing to contribute to and work as part of this team and display a commitment to working collaboratively and building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
The ability to be flexible, exercise initiative and work as part of a team will be highly advantageous. Suitable applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. A clear understanding and knowledge of strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities, high level physical and medical needs, anxiety disorders, behaviour support and sensory integration issues is highly desirable.
Experience in delivering the Sounds-Write program, Reading Mastery, Spelling Mastery and other tailored intervention sessions would enhance the applicant’s suitability to the positions.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
