EMR is a consumer-centred program that
supports healthcare providers to perform their roles enabling
safety and quality to be at the heart of care for every
consumer.
This Program has been established to
digitally transform WA Health’s clinical information
management systems by delivering a Statewide EMR solution for WA
Health. The EMR is identified in the WA Health Digital Strategy
2020-2030 as the digital keystone to modernising and improving
healthcare across Western Australia.
The EMR Program will incorporate changes to
technology, business processes and culture. It will take advantage
of innovations in digital health care to improve patient safety and
quality of care for the Western Australian community regardless of
their location.
About the role
We are looking for experienced
and motivated Chief Nursing & Midwifery
Information Officers to join our diverse and
highly skilled team in contributing to the health of all Western
Australians.
This appointment
is for 2.5 years with the
possibility of extension(s).
The Chief Nursing & Midwifery Information
Officer will lead the health service in driving the planning,
design, and implementation of the statewide EMR Program. This role
will work collaboratively with the identified EMR Chief Information
Officer positions across WA Health to provide statewide clinical
leadership to the EMR Program in ensuring the system and workflows
designed are patient centric, focused on delivery of safe care,
improve efficiencies and support best practice
healthcare.
The Chief Nursing & Midwifery Information
Officer provides strategic leadership and facilitates engagement of
clinical staff across the organisation in the design and
implementation of the statewide EMR and associated technologies.
This position will be responsible and accountable for the
development of a clinical staff engagement strategy that identifies
the operational and educational impact of the EMR implementation.
This role will represent and actively consult with the health
service clinical staff in decision making and policy formation
related to the EMR to optimise clinical practice.

There are 4 positions based in Perth and
incumbents may be required to travel to remote and regional areas.
Additionally there is one position that will be based in
Perth or Regional WA as required.
Key information for
applicants
Suitable applicants will be
placed in a pool from which appointments may be made until 31
December 2025. There are currently 5.0 FTE available for
appointment at the following Health Service Providers:
- Child and Adolescent
Health Service – 1.0 FTE
- East Metropolitan Health
Service – 1.0 FTE
- North Metropolitan Health
Service – 1.0 FTE
- South Metropolitan Health
Service – 1.0 FTE
- WA Country Health Service
– 1.0 FTE
To be employed in the WA public sector, you
must be an Australian citizen, have permanent resident status in
Australia, or have a visa that allows you to live and work in
Australia for the period of your employment contract.
WA Health policies require applicants to
undertake a pre-employment health assessment, criminal record
screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment
process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an
applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical
behaviour.
These positions will initially be established
with the Health Service Providers as the employing authority and
will have a dotted line reporting to the Department of Health (DoH)
EMR Program Leadership. In the future, this position may undergo a
review for re-establishment within the DoH and be re-classified
against the Public Sector Award at the equivalent
level.
