
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs - Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
North Parmelia Primary School (PS) is situated in the North-East corner of the city of Kwinana. The current enrolment is 298 students. The Role
As an Education Assistant – you will form part of our dedicated team of staff working with students with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and other mental health and developmental disabilities and/or disorders. In this role you would collaborate with the classroom teacher to assist in the planning and delivery of educational programs to support the learning and development of students with additional needs. Building meaningful relationships with children with additional needs and their families is an important part of this role, so high interpersonal skills and effective communication strategies would be highly regarded. Applicants with Team Teach Training (Positive Handling), and knowledge of Trauma Informed Practices would be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants would ideally be confident working with small groups of students, be highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic about developing and implementing specialised education programs to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
