The Examinations, Certification and Testing (ECT) Directorate and the Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate are responsible for ensuring the integrity and consistency of educational assessments across Western Australia. They manage key assessments such as ATAR examinations, Externally Set Tasks (EST), NAPLAN, and the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA), ensuring statewide comparability and high-quality data reporting. These directorates also facilitate strong communication between schools and the Authority for data transfer and compliance.
Additionally, the directorates lead the development of policies and programs across the K-12 education system, focusing on moderation, curriculum standards, and the transition to online assessments. They research best practices, manage projects, and ensure responsiveness to the needs of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority Board and the Minister.
The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and coordinating confidential communications, including briefing notes, reports, and submissions, and managing travel, accommodation, appointments, and enquiries. You will also contribute to the efficient running of the Directorate by establishing and monitoring business systems, assisting with administrative processes, and supporting committees with meeting coordination, agendas, minutes, and related materials.
Additionally, you will manage complex administrative tasks, ensuring objectives are met and timelines are adhered to. You will liaise with key stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and provide essential support in response to requests for information from schools, education systems, and the community. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing financial processes in line with departmental guidelines, handling confidential enquiries with discretion, and ensuring that records and databases are maintained in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy.
