The Role
The Literacy Specialist teacher plays a crucial role in supporting Applecross SHS academic excellence and inclusive education vision. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the school's literacy strategies, including implementing National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) assessments, to ensure that all Students achieve their full potential and are well-prepared for their future pathways, whether university, vocational education, or employment.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to analyse and report on NAPLAN data to plan for the use of interventions and appropriate actions to improve NAPLAN and OLNA outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally be responsible for the coordination of the following:
NAPLAN
- Planning and Compliance: Ensure all planning aligns with the Handbook
- Training Coordination: Coordinate NAPLAN Online Readiness Training Technical Support Liaison: Collaborate with technical support staff for NAPLAN Testing Organisation: Create and organise a Test Administrator Pack
- Adjustments Coordination: Investigate and administer disability adjustments
- Documentation Management: Transfer & store all relevant files and documents
OLNA
- Planning and Compliance: Ensure planning aligns with the OLNA Handbook Dashboard Management: Manage the OLNA Dashboard,
- Technical Support Coordination: Liaise with technical support staff
- Collaboration with Year Coordinators: Work with Year Coordinators to obtain up-to-date Student information that may impact OLNA testing.
- Intervention Support: Collaborate with the Education Professional Learning and Timetabling: Develop and implement professional learning
We are seeking a highly organized and skilled professional to join our team. The successful candidate will ideally have proven experience in project management and a thorough understanding of NAPLAN and OLNA assessment procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are desirable, as well as ideally having proficiency in relevant technology and software. This role also requires the ability to develop and deliver impactful professional learning for staff while fostering a culture of high academic achievement.
