We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Carine Senior High School (SHS) is a school of choice in the northern suburbs of Perth. Our school became an Independent Public School in 2015 and has since been leading academic performance from years 7-12 through the recruitment and development of highly effective program coordinators, teachers, and support staff. We accomplish our vision to seek excellence in education through individualised student pathways, which are consistently reviewed and adapted to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students.
Our school community is positive and caring. Wellbeing is an overarching school priority. This is achieved through a dedicated team of specialist professionals who provide holistic support for our students' social and emotional wellbeing with a balanced focus on resiliency. Included are dedicated student services managers, chaplains, community health nurses, psychologists, academic support mentors, and support teachers. Parental involvement in children's education is welcomed and encouraged as we believe strongly in the importance of open, honest, and supportive links between family and school. Support dogs are in attendance; Noodles and Leo are popular with many. The Student Services team plans regular reward and extra-curricular events for students who consistently strive for success.

The Role
We are looking to add to our large team of Education Assistants to assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs in inclusive settings and implement individual student or small group programs. Suitable applicants may also, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. The Education Assistants at our school are line managed by a Learning Support & Inclusion Manager. The ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively within a large team of Education Assistants is key to this role.
Education Assistants will assist the teacher to understand when there is communication difficulty between them and a student. Furthermore, experience in supporting ASD students to engage in mainstream education and/or experience assisting the regulation of students with mental health diagnoses, would be highly desirable.
Carine SHS is a large public high school which provides many opportunities for students to engage in a diverse curriculum and extra curricular activities. Education Assistants are integral for some students to access some of these programs and courses. Therefore, experience in or a willingness to support students in a range of educational environments is advantageous.
