At Northam Primary School (PS) we cater for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently have just over 300 students. Our students come from the local town and from the outlying farms and rural properties.
Our school fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment; we focus on building positive relationships with students, their parents and carers and with the wider community. Our staff, comprising of newly graduated teachers through to teachers with many years of experience and our experienced and dedicated non-teaching staff, work together to develop individual potential through excellence in education. The Role
We are looking for a collaborative and dedicated professional who ideally has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, values strong relationships with staff, students, and families, and is committed to achieving the best possible educational outcomes for all students.
The Associate Principal will work closely with the Leadership Team and staff to foster a school-wide, growth-focused culture. The successful applicant will ideally have commitment to enhancing this culture by showcasing how they contribute to:
- Influencing Teacher effectiveness through coaching, observation and feedback, and leading and supporting others to be impactful in this area.
- Enhancing Teacher effectiveness by leading English curriculum development and providing Teacher support.
- Leading and supporting Professional Learning Communities using data about student learning to drive improvement cycles.
- Leading the implementation of high impact teaching strategies and evidence-informed interventions (informed by Teaching for Impact).
- Enriching established distributed leadership through empowering and mentoring others.
The successful applicant should have the attributes and experience to lead and support the Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2) Phase of Learning Team. At Northam PS, this includes supporting evidence-informed pedagogy with a balance between play-based approaches and explicit teaching, within a differentiated teaching and learning program. The Associate Principal’s role includes line-management and leadership responsibilities for K-2 and planning for the best use of human resources, to support the diverse needs of the student cohort.
The Associate Principal works in partnership with the Student Services Team to enhance our approaches to supporting students with additional needs. The focus on K-2, includes influencing early identification, intervention, and differentiation. The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge and experience with supporting students with complex needs inclusive of Students at Educational Risk (SAER) and Special Education Needs (SEN), including the capacity to work with outside agencies and Department resources.
While implementing whole school approaches the Associate Principal utilises their well-developed knowledge and skills in Positive Behaviour Support and success in influencing outcomes for students with challenging behaviours, positively and restoratively.
