With 23 public schools catering to over 5,250 students, ranging from urban-style environments to smaller settings in remote communities, the Kimberley education region offers a diverse and enriching education landscape for passionate teachers and school psychologists.
The Kimberley education region is seeking a psychologist with provisional or general registration to join their team. You’ll be based in the town of Fitzroy Crossing, working collaboratively with the current school psychologist, delivering psychology services to remote school communities in the Fitzroy Valley.
As a school psychologist with the Kimberley education region, you will be joining a dynamic team of around 17 psychologists, from early career through to many years of experience. The team is located across the vast geographical Kimberley education region, with school psychologists currently based in Broome, Fitzroy Crossing, Derby, and Kununurra. With plenty of support from the regional team, we’re looking for a psychologist who is keen to challenge themselves, and ready to develop skills in working with Aboriginal students and their families. In this role, you will have the chance to become part of your local community and make a real difference in the lives of young people. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, consult widely, and work effectively as both part of a team and independently when required.

The Role
To be successful for this role you will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to collaborate and work effectively with our leadership team, students, and parents. As the school psychologist you will exercise professional reflexivity and work in culturally responsive ways to create conditions for culturally safe care. You will have a willingness to reflect on and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, consult widely, and able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently when required.
You’ll be working closely with another school psychologist who is also a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor. Whether you’re a graduate psychologist looking to kick-start your 5+1 internship or a psychologist with many years of experience looking for an adventure, this could be the perfect position for you. This school psychologist position has some unique benefits, including:

- District Allowance of $7,436 p.a. (paid fortnightly)
- School Psychologist Attraction and Retention Incentive (ARI) of $12,822 p.a. (paid fortnightly) – approved to 31 December 2026

- Demonstrated High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
