This is a permanent full-time position commencing on or after 10 June 2025
The Department’s Standards and Integrity Directorate within the Professional Standards and Conduct Division, is responsible for:
- the assessment and management of complaints in line with the Complaints and Notifications policy
- investigation of staff disciplinary matters, including reportable conduct
- reviews into child deaths and incidents
- monitoring working with children check compliance, associated with departmental employees.
The Directorate promotes a culture of integrity across the organisation by delivering education, training and support that promotes high standards of conduct amongst staff and focuses on resolving complaints effectively, maintaining child safety, and reducing serious misconduct risk associated with fraud and corruption.
The Role
The External Oversight Coordinator has responsibility for coordinating and managing external and internal oversight and stakeholder engagement activities, building and establishing strong working relationships with officers of equivalent and senior levels and coordinating timely responses to external requests. The position has oversight of a broad range of requests, contributes to the preparation of reports, updates databases and provides statistics on current cases.
The successful applicant will act as the key liaison between the directorate and various external agencies, including the Ombudsman Western Australia, Corruption and Crime Commission, Public Sector Commission and Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia, among others. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills to coordinate cross-divisional information gathering and facilitate timely responses to external inquiries. Additionally, you will support the directorate by preparing reports, updating spreadsheets and accurate data entry, managing projects, and providing guidance on misconduct trends and assessment and investigation processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to child protection policies and strategies, while enhancing departmental compliance and continuous improvement within the assessment and investigation frameworks to meet oversight agency expectations.
